Arcticold Food Partners with Sam’s Club to Bring High-Quality American Pork into Chinese Market

December 29, 2016

SHENZHEN, China (16 November, 2016) — Arcticold Food Ltd., one of China’s fastest-growing cold chain logistics and food import companies, has announced a partnership with membership-only retail warehouse Sam’s Club to introduce high-quality, USDA-certified American pork to the Chinese market.

Arcticold will immediately supply American-bred pork to Sam’s Club’s 15 locations throughout China, including premium cuts of pork spare ribs, belly, loins, and butt.

“We are ecstatic to enter in this partnership with a company as respected as Sam’s Club,” said Calvin Wong, Executive Director of Arcticold Logistics. “Our goal is introduce the highest quality and best-tasting product to the Chinese consumer at an affordable price. We are confident customers will find our American pork to be superior in every way.”

The introduction of U.S.-bred pork to China is more than about offering a higher quality of taste, Wong said. “It’s offering consumers the ease of mind that the product they’re purchasing for their family dinner table adhered to the highest food safety standards. The result is a more consistent and better quality meat — that is also more delicious.”

What sets apart the Arcticold-Sam’s Club relationship is the first-class sourcing of the product. The pork is bred, raised and processed by a single USDA-approved supplier, under the strictest animal welfare standards to ensure healthy and delicious pork.

To celebrate the partnership, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on 16 November at the Sam’s Club in Shenzhen, an event attended by numerous dignitaries. Arcticold and Sam’s Club were honored to have in attendance Charles Bennett, Consul General of the American Consulate in Guangzhou, who spoke at the event and offered his congratulations.

“I know how good American pork is because I grew up eating it,” Bennett said. “This pork is absolutely the best in the world.”

Also at the ceremony: Director Levin Flake and Deputy Director William Verzani of the US Agricultural Trade Office, and members of Sam’s Club executive team including Senior Director of Food Merchandising Bill Cummings and Chief Merchandising Officer Neil Maffrey.

The event featured a live cooking demonstration and food tasting by acclaimed executive chef Johnny Yang. As part of Sam’s Club introductory promotion, store members were able to sample pork dishes featuring American grain-fed pork. Logistical and promotional assistance was also provided by the U.S. Meat Export Federation, the non-profit trade association instrumental in organizing the Sam’s Club ribbon-cutting event.

“We’d like to offer our gratitude to the USMEF, whose work these past six months in training, promoting, plus coordinating with the U.S. consulate was done with absolute professionalism,” Wong said.
